In the early days of computers, word processors, spreadsheets and databases were the three main applications that all computers had. Sinclair released Vu-Calc from PSION. It was a very simple spreadsheet with a lot of limitations. MemoTech released MemoCale about a year after [Vu-Calc](http://localhost/tag/vu-calc/) was released. The one main difference between the two spreadsheets is the MemoCalc can use all of the built-in nath functions on the ZX81, allowing for fairly complex formulas.
