# Running a Gold Card from 5 Volts

The QL normally runs as we all know from 9 volts, which if you have transfered your QL to a PC case (with a switch mode power supply), causes a few problems. The solution to this problem is to run the whole system on 5 volts, but the backup clock on Gold Card will not function without a 9 volt supply.
