# Sinclair in Print, 1980–2026

The ZX80 reached American readers in 1980, and the dedicated press arrived almost at once: [Syntax](http://localhost/tag/syntax/) began in 1980 alongside the ZX80, and [SYNC](/periodical/sync-magazine/) followed in January 1981. Mainstream magazines like [InfoWorld](http://localhost/periodical/infoworld/), [Creative Computing](http://localhost/periodical/creative-computing/), [Compute!](http://localhost/periodical/compute/) and Byte covered the machines too. Once the Timex Sinclair 1000 went on sale in 1982, user-group newsletters and new magazines like [Sinc-Link](http://localhost/tag/sinc-link/) multiplied. Many of them kept going long after Timex left the computer business in 1984. [ZXir QLive Alive!](/periodical/zxir-qlive-alive/) published its last issue in 2003, and Tim Swenson’s [ZXzine](/periodical/zxzine/) picked up the thread in 2015.

Each bar shows when this archive has coverage, which isn’t always the whole life of the publication. Byte, for example, appears from 1981 to 1986 because those are the years with Sinclair articles indexed here. As more issues and articles are added, the bars update on their own.

The years from 2004 to 2014 are squeezed together because none of the publications in the archive were running then. The purple lines mark machine launches and turning points, dated to the month of US availability where that differs from the UK.
