A Timex Sinclair 1000 sits on top of the dashboard of Chief Russell Long’s patrol car and plugs into the cigarette lighter through a conversion device he invented. Connected to a 1.5 inch Panasonic television screen with a magnifying glass, the computer lets him see crime stats and other data entries. “It’s small, but it does its job.”
