Bill Miller

Bill worked many years as a draftsman and mechanical engineer for various computing firms in the early days of Silicon Valley. Energetically stubborn, he was a passionate UNIX computer enthusiast who refused to use Windows devices to his dying day.

Bill was involved in GUTS/SV and Peninsula Timex/Sinclair User Group (PUG), two of the three SF Bay Area Timex/Sinclair user groups. When the groups started to lose members, Bill was the last voice for the groups.

Bill published SincLink, a text-only newsletter that indexed articles from other user group newsletters and where he’d document calls, e-mail, letters, conversations, etc that he had with other T/S users. He printed SincLink in the smallest print possible on a dot-matrix printer and added it to TimeLinez newsletters.

He also designed a “Supercharger” for the Timex/Sinclair 1000. It’s unclear whether this was intended to be a product for Exatron or he re-used their drafting paper.

Bill passed away September 16, 2023, at the age of 87. When he passed, a significant portion of his Timex and Sinclair collection was preserved by the Timex community.
