Weppler received his B.S.E.E. degree from Purdue University in 1937.
He was employed by the Bell Telephone System in progressive engineering capacities from that time until 1980. Starting in 1959, he headed the organization in the American Telephone and Telegraph Company responsible for planning the development and standardization of radio-relay, mobile, and satellite communication systems, subsequently becoming Director – Technical Standards and Regulatory Planning.
He was active on radio engineering matters, both nationally and internationally, particularly as to the efficient utilization of the radio spectrum.
Weppler passed away in 1995.
