One area of programming that is especially well represented on the QL is file handling. This is hardly surprising really since all information held by a computer is in a file of some kind and the one thing you learn early on is that making backups stops headaches and large dents in the wall nearest to the computer. Although the system itself has a large selection of file handling commands most of us are much happier to be able to call up a program which gives us the various options on screen and presents directories in an easy to assimilate form.
