Well I made it. Last month I actually mailed QZX in the month listed on the cover. Unfortunately I slipped again this month. The reason is the Index. All my effort has gone into finishing the index. And the Index is completely finished and mailed to those who bought advanced copies. For more information see the related article in this issue. Alas, into every publication a few misprints must fall, and in writing that article I found one in the Index. Fortunately, it was minor.
The big equipment news this month is that Miracle Systems is about to release a card that fits in an MSDOS machine and makes it into a QL, complete with any disk drives or hard disk that the MSDOS machine has. That is a switch indeed. The bad news is that the cost of the card will probably be in the $700 to $800 range (plus the MSDOS machine). I can provide more details if readers are interested.
The newsletter of the New England Sinclair QL Users Group is getting a new editor, so perhaps it will not stop publishing after all.
I hear that the DMA Computerfest with a significant Sinclair component will be held in Dayton, OH in August as usual. When I find out more details I will publish them here.
I was able to get an article based on the history of QZX (see the December 1992 issue of QZX) published in the current issue of Update Magazine. It has already generated a bit of interest.
RMG Enterprises, one of the largest Sinclair dealers (who’s ads appear regularly in QZX) has moved. After 24 years at the same address their building was sold and the new owner no longer wished to rent it. See their ad for the new address. The phone numbers are the same. They no longer offer a computer catalog but have separate price lists for the ZX81, the TS2068, QL, disk drives, and any particular item you wish. Please send a SASE with at least 52 cents of postage. W4GHV, Bo, did not have many takers for his free RAM, but he has another ad in the unclassifieds. He has written a beginner’s book on assembly language programing for the 68000 family of cpu chips, the same kind as is used in the QL. For more details see the ads.
