Editor’s Note

At last BYTE POWER is now SPECTRUM compatible!!! Yes it is now ready. You will find it on side B of the cassette. Note that the SPECTRUM version will only work on the SPECTRUM, it isn’t compatible with the TS2068!

Also note that the BYTE POWER program (THIS ONE!) will now print in 32 columns on the TS2040 when you ask to print the text and are in 32 col. mode, also the character set is the same as the magazine that is, if you read the magazine with the BOLD fonts, it will print the text in BOLD fonts. If you are reading the magazine in 64 col. mode then the Print option will be sideways and in 64 columns. If you are using a Full size printer then the text will always be in 64 columns as usual.

One more thing, the SPECTRUM programs (games especially) will accept a KEMPSTON compatible joystick and the PORT 1 (LEFT) joystick of the TS2068 (TS2068 with a SPECTRUM EMULATOR).

BYTE POWER is proud to announce two new softwares… BYTE POWER’S FIRST CLASS FONTS and BYTE POWER’S FIRST CLASS PROGRAMS (PROGRAM TAPE 1).

The first one is a compilation of character sets used in our programs in the last 6 issues and some we made up just for that tape + a character set definer to create your own character sets + a giant 3X3 OLDE ENGLISH character set to create title screens + a 64 Column Print utility using the PRINT #3 command. A great tape to JAZZ UP those programs of yours. It’ll make them look more professional. It will give them that finishing touch they’re missing!. A total of 36 character sets in all! The second package is a compilation of 9 games for the ZX81 (TS1000/1500). A great addition to your software library! Also BYTE POWER is offering a FIRST CLASS PACK which is any 6 issues (BACK ISSUES) in a high quality vinyl album. This FIRST CLASS PACK SELLS FOR $35 (US) ppd.

A BUG was found in SUPER BUDGET (NOV’86)…LINE 190 reads LOAD A$CODE 56655 and should read LOAD A$CODE 56658.

You will also notice that ‘RIBBIT’ has been replaced with ‘TYCOON!’. We had some technical problems with it so it’ll be in the next issue…SORRY!
