Dear Paul:

At the last meeting I attended before comming to fla. I was told that it is usualy necessary to remove one of the plugs from the tape recorder when LOADING . I also remenber that I have read this in one of the manuals.

This never was a problem with me with the SX81 or the 2068 as long as I used my B&W. When I started using a SONY 9 inch, just lateley, I ran into the loading bug I had heard about.

Drawing on past experence in audio work,I suspected a ground loop problem, for in audio you NEVER have more than ONE ground path ie: each section is grounded in one spot.

My fix was to open about 1/4 in of one of the grey wires . You peel back the rubber and then very gingerly remove the copper ground shield for that 1/4in. Be very sure not to damage the white wire then tape. You could do this ANY place in either wire BUT ONLY ONE WIRE.

This makes loadig a lot easer & less trouble. It works for me hope it will for you.
