When many people think about the current class of home computers, one of the things that comes to mind is icon control. The first home computer which made this popular was the Apple MacIntosh. When you ask for a directory of files on a disk, the files appear on the screen represented by small pictures which signify the type of file. Commands are issued by moving a pointer around the screen until it points to the action desired, whereupon the user would “click” a device (either the spacebar, a joystick fire button or mouse) and the computer will perform a task.
