Loco-Motion is a cartridge conversion of Konami’s 1982 arcade game of the same name. Published by Parker Brothers in 1984, the game is written entirely in Z80 machine code.
The gameplay combines action with sliding-tile puzzle mechanics. The playfield is a grid of railroad track segments with one empty space. Players slide track pieces into the gap — like a 15-puzzle — to build a continuous route for a locomotive that never stops moving. The goal is to guide the train through stations to pick up passengers before their countdown timers expire. Miss a station, and a “Crazy Train” is sent onto the tracks as a hazard. Players can crash Crazy Trains into each other to eliminate them, but running into a dead end, the board edge, or the empty space costs a life.
