stsig Letters

Date: 1985
Type: Data
Platform(s): TS 2068

A data tape, not a program. It holds two short documents saved as CODE blocks by a TS2068 word processor, along with a 32-byte block that is probably the word processor’s settings. The text is stored as fixed 32-character lines, the width of the TS2068 screen. Typing slips and a few repeated lines are left as they were. The word processor that made the files is not identified; the name of the settings block, TW2000, suggests a Tasword-style program.

  • TW2000: 32 bytes at 36511, probably word-processor settings.
  • stsig: 2,112 bytes at 36651. A form letter dated January 20, 1985, announcing the opening of a downtown health club. It is addressed to a sample recipient and signed by the club’s vice president of membership.
  • myrtle: 1,376 bytes at 36682. A camera-club newsletter item paying tribute to Myrtle Walgreen of the CSCC, one of the founders of the drugstore chain. It asks members to lend their copies of her 3-D slides for a retrospective show.

The file inside the archive with a .tap extension is actually in TZX format. There is no BASIC on the tape. To read the documents, load them into a compatible word processor or view the bytes in a hex viewer.
