A number of you noted how late your September issue arrived. The fact is…we muffed it! We were late getting the September issue together, then our printing facility was tied up with another job which meant that we had to wait until ours could be printed. The end result: our september issue came out in October. We apologize. This issue is being mailed the first of November. The November issue is scheduled for the third week of that month. In other words, we will be back on schedule after this brief deviation.
Here at SUM we know how important your trust in us is. Whenever you fail to receive an issue, let us know. We will always mail another out FIRST CLASS, even if the post office was at fault. (By the way, allow up to about 2 1/2 weeks from our stated mailing dates before checking with us. The post office can be that Slow!) If you are unhappy with our service or coverage, let us know. We can’t please everyone, but we do try to answer all correspondence we can, and satisfy every legitimate complaint. We have received numerous calls and letters detailing problems with other publications and suppliers in our market. It is a fact of life that several companies have taken money and not given full value for it. We at SUM want to urge every fellow editor/ publisher and company in our market to pay full attention to the needs of your customers. Let’s not be so shortsighted that we “bite the hands that feed us.”
On another note, the holiday season is coming up, and what better way to make you and your computer happy than by giving a list of “goodies” to your mate, parents, or close friend, detailing software or hardware for your machine from one of our advertisers. If all else fails, do it for yourself! There’s some great new stuff out there for our machines, and you’ll almost surely be happy with it all!
Sinclair USA has succumbed to the lower pricing of the English Sinclair QL and has now lowered to price of the American QL to $299.95. This is a real bargain!–a 128K computer with two microdrives and a set of serious software: word processing, database, graphics. Quite a bit of third party software is already available thru companies like English Micro Connection and Curry. And while I’m at it, congratulations to Sinclair for finally deciding to add dealers (like those above) and quit trying to sell strictly thru their own mailorder efforts. Maybe this will be in time for Christmas and will therefore create the big boost the QL needs at this time. SUM intends to support the QL.
