Greetings from London! This issue we are “on the road” attending the PCW Show at the Olympia in London. We will be giving a full report on the show, on the status of the QL, and on new hardware and software, later in this issue.
First, though, some news of interest. We have been experimenting with hooking up composite color monitors to the QL. We tried first with an old Amdek Color I and got a “satisfactory” picture. There was some shadow and on QLWP it was better to use white ink than green- it was less tiring on the eyes. I.C.E. came in fine, although we did have to *shrink” the display initially by adjusting the vertical sizing screw in the back which most monitors should have. The hook-up goes out the TV port so you lose the ability to use a TV but I don’t think that will disappoint too many people. Keep in mind this technically voids the warranty but if your machine is out of the warranty period you may want to consider it.
